Cultural Memory:

How does a unifying culture share it’s binding features? What is instilled in the younger generation that prepares them for their later years. And how are our cultural memories unified? Is it through our shared melodies, and our shared practices? Our shared words and perspectives? Perhaps all this and more. The memory of a congreational melody that is a shared experience can also be seen as a gateway to shared cultural experiences and group melodies. What happens when you are with a group you affiliate with –but they do not share your melody? Are you still united by your shared cultural memories, or are the lines blurred? How does the melody associated with a song prayer affect your experiences?
