Advertising any where u can:
Seriously? Does he think he is funny.
‘News’ site interfaces
I often read ‘News’ sites. I’m a news hound. Fascinated by the workings of the world, hungry for information. Thes sites are highly trafficked. They change often, but do they get better at giving their core users what ‘they’ want? How does one site or another choose what stories get top billing? How are ads organized in relevance to journalistic content and can you distinguish them from one another. Are text links and hierarchy the key gateway to a longer story or is it a connection with text and image? Does the color skeema and button design make you feel a certain way. What is it about the interface that encourages a certain behavior or alludes to a certain type of content.
I have found myself thinking more and more about these questions and analyzing the places News is delivered. I am in a state of questioning what is ‘News’ exactly and how much more it is now a part of where it is consumed.

note the nexium ad.

note the ad cut off in the top, improperly served in an incorrect height x width placement.

note the presntation and color schema and ad for self promotion.

note fomrat and photo story vs non photo story.

note the video ad to the right and it’s integration in video section and the pictured stories vs text only.

note the ad placements and text stories being the only news and images are branding and paid media.

note ad clutter and outdated design and color scheme, still have a tonal feeling and historic, timeless, ironic, even classic hookiness- while addressing serious issues and war stories exclusively.

note the ad placement to the right and the use of image vs text stories.

note the left for text. middle for images. right and top with ads sprinkled in.
I’ve intentionally left out links back to the ‘News’ sites as they have plenty of trackbacks.
