Did you see IMEEm?

How about youtube?

Yeah- is it not as good when it’s openly planned like this? Should it not seem liked planned media? Should it seem user generated? Does it give more value to other users? Oh, I think it does.

Would my mom and maybe my solo savy grandma who go online to use IM and look at baby video find this almost relevant, perhaps. Will not heavy web users get excited into this? They might. That’s the point isn’t it.

Talk about the obvious. IT’s right infront of you is it relevant?

Are your ads to spec?

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 6:42 am

An unfortunate trend recently has been in the direction of not optimizing. Use a png, maybe 2. Let’s push it through! Bling blang. Does it work? Is it hot? Maybe, but it looks good locally. Does it steal information from a user? Does it track a users movements? How much, and what? Is it geo-targeted? Can we do that? Well, if not one notices…

The art of production is in reduction for many people and for many creative shops, it’s been ok in the ad realm, media buys large k size atlas and dc motif. Let’s push it out. Well does the IAB like that? They r back tot he lowest common denominator. Privacy is at the front, but so is a goal of finding a standardization ofr publisher specs. Man where are the specs. it’s a long running issue. Are your publisher specs in the IAB database? Any where else? With a vender? What’s next for all this wacky stuff in the ad world. It’s just gonna metathesizes and more issues will unravel. It’s inevitable. Vender’s, search engines, word, etc. What is fair game and ground. It’s all blending together. And the content in many places is becoming ad space’? What. Yeah. Content is the new ad. yum.

Bringing video content online

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 9:31 am

From old classics to new goodies and originals, from ARG’s to old commercials from childhood. People and corps are adding video content online. Records that never made it to cd? People are uploading those too. Online archives and video stashes. More than that, Original video and UGC are making a recognition of original webisodes as a reality more and more. Forget Lonely girl, or rather re-imagine her. Over and over again. It’s you. It’s your friend. Now it’s Ashely Simpson? Could be. The web video is finally getting movement. Youtube and truveo. Google video to current tv. We’re on the cusp of an integrated tv/web/satellite/mobile network. I’ll be mediating on this. Look for an update soon.

Gorilla’s in the mist, like they are only in the mist, cause they are gone, almost. Tears.

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 8:32 am

It’s a sad story of war and human domination and it’s our closest relatives, the chimps, bonobos, orangutans and gorillas that are in the way of humanities expansions and warfares. They gorilla, poor, poor gorilla’s, they are big time meals now. Bush meat. The Chinese also love them for medicinal mythos and they are hunted as practice by some peoples who share the forest with them and just for fun. Captured for sale and habitat destruction abound. But, and a late but, with populations getting to critical points. Which essentially are when an animal population is below 500. That’s right. Below 500 animals means genetic diversity and inbreeding start to be the only way to keep going. Below 500 is not a long term viable population for a species, most likely. The species could bounce back of course and we have a pact to try and help the species bounce back:

“Three countries in pact to save mountain gorillas”

The uk pub, The Guardian reports on the 3 nation pack with Rwanda, Uganda & Congo to agree to a 10 year plan. then back to old ways? Why only 10 years. Can they stop the poachers? Can the animals succeed to breed in a limited habit.

gorilla

“About 340 of the mountain gorillas roam mostly in south-west Uganda, with a further 250 in Rwanda, and 130 in eastern Congo.” That’s it, there wild species in Africa is a out at critical point. I hope the 3 nations make the preservation of the native and wild cousins of ours a priority. Humanity benefits from the diversity of our fellow citizens of Earth. When they are gone, we loss a piece of wonder.

Green Advertising, It Needs A Point. Where Is the Substance

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 5:57 pm

Getty Images’ Rebecca Swift has an article on the bbc that gets into how just having a Green tone is not enough. To have no substance besides a fluffy, “I’m Green and good for the environment” just won’t cut it.

getty

To be green means more than recycling, as cheesy and simple as it sounds, it’s using the cloth re-usable bags to buy goods at the store and supermarket. To have left of a “footprint” as it was. It’s also started to become clear to brands that it really has to be substance and thoughtfulness and “more in the messages” you as a green concerned consumer receive and do or do not respond to. Rebecca gets into it, but Commarts recently did as well over a few issues of it’s pubs.

How thoughtful and relevant and accessible is a brands “green” will continue to become more relevant, complex and require more and real substance.

SuperGeeky It Creates Conotations of Superbad, Not As Funny, But Just As Good, and ad a er

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 8:43 am

SuperGeekery, the name is a bit cheaky, but of so geeky. So, now that I have Rhymed myself into cheese and Geektown, IT’s easier to write a few about SuperGeekery. My associate Fabien tipped me off to the site, and then I realized I had seen it before. Good stories and critical commentary of the Interactive industry.

I mostly enjoy the Social media comparisons and the way interpretations that show how users lead brand association more and more now and how Brands and corps need to be aware of this to prevent mockery and to tap into it as this post displays.

The user community takes content and makes it their own, they have commentary, originality, make sequel, bash, trash, praise, share, use and ignore- there’s obviously alot more. But that’s more SuperGeekery…

What I really like about the format that SG has, is that it creates thought provoking-ness, just by visiting it in the sense of technology, users and it’s implications through usage, hence the social-ness - etc. he provides critical analysis that is not techcrunch or clickz, and it’s refreshing to have more sources of interpretation that have analysis otherwise, it’s more dictation, than analysis, as nice as it sounds, yum.

Rock on G, SG that is.

Lunar Eclipse makes the Moon Red

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 8:12 am

The Planets will align and a Lunar Eclipse will occur for a Red tone tonight and tomorrow and if the sky is anything like last night, it will be wondrous and a red tone will shower much of the world. The history or the lunar eclipse, it’s omen bringing fear inspiring - galactic awesomeness, has long been recorded. I’m wishing for a clear sky again tonight. What omen does this Red Moon foretell, perhaps it will reveal something wondrous. Or perhaps it will just bring a Wonderful red tone to the moon and to the night landscape. but surely it will bring about some omen.

Unerwater search shows new species under Antarctica

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 8:07 am

Video footage from a submersible show some of the varied life living on the sea bed:

The diversity of live is astounding. Ironic that we are discovering such wonders that we share our planet with as we have just begun to see effects of our over population and the climate shift. How long will we share our world with these new found creatures? Will our disrespect for the planet hurt them, help them ? What is worth protecting? How can we be taking samples for study and expect other scientists not to want to go back and do the same. Perhaps they may lead to new drugs and other discoveries. Or maybe, just maybe, we’;ll just get more video to look at and images to gaze upon, to see the wonders that surround us, the life that shares our world with us, in the most inhospitable places.

GM crops, tainted Salmon, oh my

Filed under: Thoughts — Buckyben @ 7:35 am

The UK Guardian pimps 2 stories that deem shout out:

GM crop trial locations may be hidden from public

gm

and

Supermarkets recall salmon over contamination

salmon

It’s pretty amazing, Diesel fuel contaminated the salmon, so it may taste strange, so let’s recall it, not to mention that consuming gas in Diesel form may not be that healthy, oh, and it smells bnad and the taste, well it won’t be just right. yeah.

And have we not yet learned the ills from the US of A of not notifying public of GM crop locations, yeah, like when the early US tests saw good results of the GM crops, some farmers just started planting it and selling it off and intentionally or note, mixed into the food supply and the grainery supplies and now in many locations of the US corn and tomatoes are mixed al’natural with the GM crops. why? Cause they grew better, initially, but so much for a test run. It is a dangerous thing when GM crops are tested in not controlled conditions. I can see why the gov would keep locations secret, fear of radicalized factions hat might try to destroy the crops. All i think is that we need long term testing of any GM crops. Not all are bad, we do not know if thy are bad, what the side affects are nd what it means for long term consumption and possible side effects.

Please govs, farmers, scientists, consumers. Push for long term tests on GM crops. Let’s know what we are eating, what it does to use, the earth and how it could change over time and what it could potentially change in use, then let the consumers decide, with scientific, truthful evidence that informs humanity and doesn’t just pad some dudes or dudettes pockets. Thank you.
